Don't Kill My Vibe

I went to UofM's botanical gardens a couple weeks ago with my friend Megan, so here are some photos of that! I got a lot of curious stares from the information desk ladies, and a couple little girls stealthily took photos of me on their mom's iPhone. It was adorable.

I went to the gardens once before, during last summer. I appreciated it a lot more this time around because Michigan's winters are hell, and the gardens are pretty warm and toasty inside. Heres a photo from the previous journey! (less clothes ;D)

In other news, I'm taking care of my aunt's cat, Pipy, for a few months. My aunt frequently travels all over the world and has a condo in Singapore, where Pipy is from. She loves telling the story of how Pipy came to her, and so do I!

Essentially one day she heard mewing or scratching coming from a drain pipe outside her condo. It became her first priority to save this creature from it's near death, however she didn't know how. The animal was lodged way up in the pipe, and couldn't be reached by hand. My aunt created quite a scene, people stopped to ask what was going on. A crowd gathered, but no one knew how to get the animal out. Someone spoke up and suggested flushing the animal down the pipe by shooting water down the top of it. My aunt was horrified by this, what if the animal drowned?

No one had any better ideas, and the man who suggested it seemed confident that it would work. Sure enough after the water was flushed down the pipe, a kitty rolled out! That's how she got her name :)

Pipy flew back to Michigan with her about a year ago, and every once in a while I get to take care of her while my aunt is traveling! She's an adorable kitty, and I don't ever want her to leave :)

Lazy Sunday

Hey all! I'm getting excited because I've gotten into the routine of blogging every Sunday, and I've actually been sticking to it. Usually I get extremely lazy and it doesn't always seem to happen.. knock on wood. I'd like it to continue.

The photo below was taken in Detroit. The trip only takes 30 minutes and it's well worth it - it's extremely fun exploring and adventuring around all the decaying beautiful buildings. As long as you're not alone, it's not too scary.

Below is a photo of some sandwiches I made at work today.. I get a little out of hand. Below that, is a new pair of cat shorts I made last night! Speaking of which, I have some NEW SHORTS on my Etsy! Go check them out :)

Cold Cats

Back in classes as of.. two weeks ago. I'm mentally and physically exhausted already. I'm in a sound & recording class where we go to Detroit to work with 12th graders and listen to their stories. I'm also taking printmaking, color theory, and a photography class. Lots of art classes! I finally feel like an art student. An exhausted art student.

In spare time on the weekends (if I have any..) I've been going to Detroit to take photos for classes, as well as some Lookbook ones. My friend Ruby Tanja took some of me for a project last semester, so here are some of those!

Even though it can be scary, Detroit is an amazing place, and enjoy going there from time to time. Especially for exploring! :}

Holidaze

I just finished moving everything back into my apartment: break is officially over. Not sure if I'm excited for classes to start back up, or dreading it. Anyhow, while I was home I had time to catch up on some shoots! I also worked on more shorts/pants which will be on my Etsy VERY soon :)

Here is a look I did with my friend Brittlyn, who ventured over from South Haven to spend some time with me on New Years Eve, and the following day.

And here are some of the shorts I did! Chaps with suede detail, lucky cats, and orange cats :)

Knight Light & Snuggie Superhero

Happy New Years everyone ;) Hope everyone has some fun adventures planned for tomorrow evening if you're celebrating the holiday. I still don't know what I'm doing... should probably figure that out. Anyways, to celebrate the future I thought I'd share with you some futuristic (space?) suit type things I made last semester for a class!

This first one was a suit I made for an "apocalyptic" situation.
I basically made a jacket, and made one of my friends wear it while I hot-glued weird plastic things on it. I used a lot of found materials on this suit including reflectors off of old bikes, plastic packing materials, a silver kitchen colander, one of those light reflectors you put in car windows to block the sun.. etc.
It lights up all over the place and has an awesome light-up helmet. It's pretty badass, and a little terrifying.

This next suit was made entirely from a pink Snuggie! Yep.. It's quite the transformation. Everyone in our class was given one to work with for this assignment, and we all made super-hero/villain costumes! I made a character that uses drills (and it also lights up...) ;)
So, while all my friends were studying for final exams, I was building a Snuggie super-hero suit using hot glue and tons of packing tape. I love my life.

Victory Lap

I got done with fall classes a week ago, and I've basically been lounging on my couchbed playing video games and sleeping ever since. I awoke today and realized it's been over a month (or longer!?) since I've posted anything on my blog. So here I am!

The first image was taken in Detroit with my friend Ruby for one of her photography assignments at FIT, and the other two were also taken in the D on different days.

Funny story. While I was doing the shoot in the last picture, someone broke into my car and jacked all my stuff. Computer, phone, cash, you name it. I drove the 30 minutes back to Ann Arbor with a massive hole in my windshield, and after I got home I didn't know what to do with myself. Not having a computer or phone is bizarre.
Buuuut, everything is back in order now. I ain't mad.

More soon!

Be sure to check that out and check back lata for more awesome shorts :) I do custom orders as well so let me knooow. I'll probably be doing some jeans soon.. for fall!

I feel so accomplished. ...so I went on vacation.
I'm currently in Maryland for the next week and a half doing nothing but sitting around and cuddling with 6 dogs.. wishing they were cats, and laying on the beach in Ocean City gettin ma tan and ma drank on. Sounds good to me. Sad thing about this though, is I forgot my SLR camera so no fun lookbook shots for me.. I have a smaller point and shoot cam but my man doesn't know a thing about photos or taking photos. It may be a lost cause.

..or a dealbreaker.

Editing some LB clothing shots now, and hopefully ill have them uploaded on hurr for you guys sometime this week/next weekend :D
